Menu Bar Toggle and Multi-Select Files
Did you know you can toggle the menu bar (File, Edit, View, Tools, Help) on and off for Windows Explorer in Windows Vista? To toggle the menu bar simply press the [ALT] key to turn it on or off. If you want the menu bar to be permenantly visible, go to Organize > Layout > Menu Bar (make sure there is a check next to it).
Have you ever needed to select multiple files? Vista also makes this easy by allowing you to add checkboxes! In Windows explorer enable the menu bar (see above), and go to Tools > Folder Options. Once the Folder Options window opens select the View tab, under the Advanced Settings scroll down to the bottom of the list and check the box for “Use Check Boxes to Select Items.” Click OK to complete the change. Now when you move your mouse over a file there will be a checkbox, checking this will keep the file selected as you move to other areas!
