 Another reminder system, for work or for home, is Kuku Klok – an online alarm clock! It is a no-frills web application designed for one thing: to wake you up. You set the time and then choose the type of alarm you want to hear, Kuku Klock takes care of the rest. It will even work if the internet goes down!

We’re all about options – Zoho Planner is yet another way to organize your life online. Similarly to other online organizers Zoho gives you the ability to set reminders, create to-do lists, upload images and share it all with your friends. One nice feature of Zoho is that you can create a public page of your information, making it easy to share your work with the world and meet new people!

 How do you manage social media? Postling provides an elegant solution, you can manage all your social media posts from a single page!  Dropcard is a direct feed of articles for business news. It includes articles from CNN Money and MSN Money as well as other sources. There are no frills on the website, but you can search through their archives for older articles.

MyHeritage is a new genealogical search engine that allows you find who your ancestors could be. Using MyHeritage Research is free and (all you need to do is register) made specifically for genealogy. It lets you run an aggregate search for your ancestors, plus the spelling variations of their names in hundreds of genealogy databases. In addition, they offer a family tree building software that allows you manage as many generations of ancestors as you can find; they’ve also integrated a face-recongnition software so that you can search other users photos to find possible matches. Lastly, they offer a website building feature that allows you share your family and the basic version is free.

 OneRiot.com is another real-time search engine. OneRiot crawls across Twitter, Digg, blogs and comments along with other social posts to give you the freshest and most socially relevant news possible.

 Ustream.tv is the live interactive video broadcast platform that enables anyone with a camera and an Internet connection to quickly and easily broadcast to a global audience of unlimited size. In less than two minutes, anyone can become a broadcaster by creating their own channel on Ustream or by broadcasting through their own site, empowering them to engage with their audience and further build their brand.

 CouchSurfing.com “is a worldwide network for making connections between travelers and the local communities they visit.” It is more similar to meetup.com than the others. It is based around people meeting face-to-face, either for coffee or for brief lodging as they travel. There is a rating and validation system to ensure safety and you can specify the level of meeting you are comfortable with.

If a picture is worth a 1,000 words, then a video is worth 10,000! Jing is a desktop tool for simple visual communication. It allows you to capture images or videos from your screen and add voice-over or drawn figures with text explanation. The best feature is that you can upload your video or images to a screencast.com account (free when you download jing) and send the URL to others so they can easily see your explanations from email or IM.

Synergy lets you easily share a single mouse and keyboard between multiple computers (even from PC to Mac). It is intended for users with multiple computers on the desk (e.g. a desktop plus a laptop). Synergy also merges the clipboards of all the systems into one and synchronizes screen-savers. To move from one computer to another, you simply move your mouse off the side of the screen. Some configuration is required (see this week’s tech-tip).

meebo.com – instant message anyone! meebo is a online messaging aggregator, allowing you to communicate across instant messaging platforms. If you have a AIM account, you  can talk to people on an MSN, Yahoo! or MySpace profile from a web-page (no installation required)!
