Tech Update! Synergy and Jing Video

If a picture is worth a 1,000 words, then a video is worth 10,000! Jing is a desktop tool for simple visual communication. It allows you to capture images or videos from your screen and add voice-over or drawn figures with text explanation. The best feature is that you can upload your video or images to a screencast.com account (free when you download jing) and send the URL to others so they can easily see your explanations from email or IM.


Synergy lets you easily share a single mouse and keyboard between multiple computers (even from PC to Mac). It is intended for users with multiple computers on the desk (e.g. a desktop plus a laptop). Synergy also merges the clipboards of all the systems into one and synchronizes screen-savers. To move from one computer to another, you simply move your mouse off the side of the screen. Some configuration is required (see this week’s tech-tip).
